Dear fellow Bugle Boy supporter,

I'm writing you because we share a common interest and passion in our support of live, independent music, and particularly in our love of The Bugle Boy. Lane and all of us who have enjoyed the great music at The BB THANK YOU for your past and continuing support of this wonderful listening room! Had I been asked 4 years ago if a world-class venue for performance of some of the best music to be heard anywhere, every weekend, of virtually any and all genres, might ever come to La Grange, might become known far and wide as one of the country's premier concert rooms, and may still be going strong and growing in popularity after 4 years, I would have had to say "NO WAY"!

But, thanks to Lane’s vision, hard work, dedication, and persistence The Bugle Boy is not only a reality, but has become the institution that we’re all so proud of. Of course, a few volunteers have been there all along and their help has been invaluable, especially Pete, Pat, Clare, and Charlotte. A number of artists have been committed to making The BB a success, as well, and since this is ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC, none of this would be happening without them! Then, there are those of us who have supported the Bugle Boy through our ticket purchases and attendance at concerts, enjoying some incredible music!

The Bugle Boy has now reached a turning point in its development. Lane wants to take steps to ensure the long-term success of the venue,
to make sure that it survives her and all of us, and continues to bring the best live music in the Best Little Listening Room in Texas, to La Grange and surrounding area, far into the future. I feel sure that you, like I, want to seize this opportunity to do whatever we can to help nurture and create a sustainable venue that will continue to bring great musical entertainment to La Grange for many years to come.

I think you’ll agree that the main reason many of us choose to live in  Central Texas is because of the quality of life that can be enjoyed here. Access to the arts and music is a major contributing factor toward a higher degree of livability.

The Bugle Boy Foundation has now been formed as a 501c3 not-for-profit organization in support of The Bugle Boy and live music in Fayette County. Lane will continue as Executive Director, doing all the many things that she does now, but she will have the assistance of her many fans and supporters. I can tell you that The Bugle Boy is sound (no pun intended!), and is not losing money, but is, as you probably realize, not wildly profitable, either. As supporters, we'll be able to contribute financially, through tax-deductible donations, and bring additional volunteer support for some of the things that can be added to enhance the whole Bugle Boy experience, including educational opportunities for aspiring music professionals.

There are numerous levels of support available, so that everyone can help in some way. We want every fan of live music and of The BB to be able to become a real part of this great endeavor. We'll need and depend on those who can contribute relatively small amounts of cash, say $200 per year, and we'll also need and depend on those who can afford to be major contributors to step forward and commit larger sums. Some of us will be asked to contribute $500, $1000, $5000, $10,000, or more, depending on our ability and level of interest. We’ll have the opportunity to sponsor some of our favorite artists for concerts at The Bugle Boy. We plan to continue the VIP program, modified as the new EZ PASS, which will be a great deal for those who plan to attend often. All levels of support will be of great importance. We also need “Friends of The Bugle Boy” volunteers to plan and host our pre-concert receptions and annual gala, make presentations to organizations, recruit groups to attend their own “group nights”, and much more.

The goals of the Bugle Boy Foundation will be to pay Lane and Pete
appropriate salaries for their dedicated work that is so essential for the successful functioning of The Bugle Boy, provide policy guidance, support activities related to operations, build a solid financial
foundation sufficient to ensure successful operation of the venue in both the near and long term, to acquire the land, building, and all related equipment, to continue to bring the best of live music for our listening pleasure every Friday and Saturday evening, and to increase educational opportunities for aspiring professionals in the music business.

As a Bugle Boy fan and supporter, on behalf of Lane and the board of directors, I'm asking that you let us know if you're willing and able to offer financial support. Your help will be critical to our success. Tangible benefits at particular levels of support are offered, so look at the Level of Support chart (shown below) to see what best suits you. We’ve set an ambitious goal of raising $360,000 by July 1, 2009. This will allow us to pay off the existing loans, purchase all property and assets of The Bugle Boy, and have some working capital.
