Update  from the president.

I’m happy to report that our first benefit show, featuring sensational Canadian singer/songwriter Fred Eaglesmith and his band, was a great success Sunday afternoon.  A nearly sold-out audience filled the room to listen to Fred’s poignant lyrics and memorable tunes, and to laugh at his irreverent humor between songs. Thank you to all who bought tickets.  It’s most important that we keep presenting shows that please and entertain you, and your attendance helps to tell us how that’s going.

Thanks to the efforts of our local professional auctioneer, Lee Fritsch, the autographed guitar was sold and raised $1275 for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter serving Fayette County, Texas.  The lucky winning bidder, Beverly Bayes from Austin, says that she’s a fan of most all of the artists who signed the guitar, and we’re happy that she can take the guitar home with her, and thank her for her generous support for the animal shelter and for the Bugle Boy Foundation.

Thanks to Stephen Dean and Senglemann Hall for donating a Willie Nelson bandana, signed by Willie, which brought $200 to the Bugle Boy Foundation.  A box of 1 dozen Katy Sweet Chocolate Covered Strawberries, donated by the foundation board and Lane, sold for $35.

Since the artist’s fee was underwritten by a donation from David and Vickie Vogel, all ticket sale proceeds went to the foundation, so we were able to raise $1828 for the benefit of the Bugle Boy Foundation.

We hope that you’ll think about underwriting and sponsoring a concert, too.  We expect this to be one of our best fundraising tools, and we’d be happy to talk to you about the details of how it works.  The required donation depends on the particular artist, and on the negotiated artists’ fee, so will vary from a couple hundred dollars up to several thousand dollars.  The next benefit show now scheduled, will feature highly popular New York  stand-up comedian Michelle Balan, on Sunday, May 30, and has been generously underwritten by Bugle Boy supporter Pam Holder.

Thanks again to everyone who’s stepped up in support of live, independent, original music, and for The Bugle Boy Foundation.   Keep buying tickets, come back soon and often, and bring friends.  If you’re in a position to do more, please remember that we graciously accept and appreciate all donations, in any amount, and of course it goes without saying that no donation is too small, nor too large!
