JEAN SYNODINOS
Joined by the fabulous Charles Riser on guitar and Michael Hynes on bass!

LISTEN WATCH WEBSITE

Jean Synodinos
(that's sin-uh-DEE-nus) delivers smart-sexy acoustic-pop for the big kids in the room. Her voice has been hailed by critics as “big league,” and her award-winning writing (including Kerrville's New Folk competition) digs deep lyrically, moving from big affirmations to little ironies at the turn of a phrase. Deftly skating between genres, Jean jumps from pop to jazz to rock to blues in order to find the right groove and tone for each song. Known for her dynamic performances, she lives to “read the room” and deliver shows that keep audiences returning for more.

There's no mistaking that marvelous voice, but if that alone gives her a decided advantage in the massed ranks of Austin's Girls With Guitars, she piles it on by writing songs that are extraordinarily inventive and distinctive...  she writes poetry that can be sung." John Conquest, Third Coast Music

DALE WATSON

LISTEN WATCH WEBSITE

Dale Watson is an alt-country singer and guitarist from Texas with an authentic style and character. Working to his own beat and style, Watson isn't one to try and fit into a particular category of music. In fact, in an attempt to define his music, he created the term "Ameripolitan," which he defines as "original music with prominent roots in influence." In other words, he categorizes his music as rooted in country, but not the mainstream country that we know of today.

Influenced by Johnny Cash, among others, Watson's songs are typically short and full of life, with bluntness and catchy melodies to give his music a sense of vivaciousness. His newest album is titled From the Cradle to the Grave.

"I'm one of Dale's biggest fans - I enjoy all his records and think he's great. I think there's a great deal of similarity between Dale and Waylon and myself...Kris and all the guys who just want to play their music and not have to go through all the bullshit. Dale stays true to what he believes in...whatever they say made me and Waylon 'Outlaws,' I think he's the same...if WE were, HE is."             ..Willie Nelson

SETH WALKER

LISTEN WATCH WEBSITE

Seth Walker’s music combines the driving delivery and infectious guitar style of B.B. King and T-Bone Walker with a gift for songwriting that stamps his music with a sound all his own. Walker himself describes his music as “a different point of blue.” Moreover, the gifted singer, songwriter and blues guitarist has been on a roll over the past several months. He’s toured with blues luminaries Charlie Musselwhite and Marcia Ball, shared a Christmas tour with Americana faves Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis, seen his music added to the blues channel on satellite radio and signed with the prestigious Piedmont Talent agency (which also represents James Cotton, Johnny Winter and Sue Foley). It’s hard to sing the blues with a track record like that! The Austin-based Walker released his fifth, self-titled album a year ago, and the ensuing months have been marked by one opportunity after another.

THE HUDSONS
Awarded: Austin’s Best Folk Band 2007

LISTEN WATCH WEBSITE

The Hudsons' catalogue is populated by a diverse bunch of songs. With their acoustic orientation, they've found a comfy home in the folk community, but the group shies away from no genre. They're the proud purveyors of folk-rap, rhyming stories of pimps losing wallets and planets ambling into a raucous party in the middle of the sun. Other songs ring of their singer-songwriting heroes Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Warren Zevon, Elliott Smith, Randy Newman, and Willie Nelson. They've defined themselves by playing the songs they write, however they happen to sound.

The Hudsons are frequently joined by their good friends: Leah Zeger on violin, Aeron Starr on harmonica, and Shawn Tuthill on trumpet, whistling, and djembe.

GREG GARING

LISTEN WATCH WEBSITE

In an age of boy bands, corporate sponsored rebellion, and fake reality shows, it's nice to see an original pop up seemingly out of the blue. Insiders know about Garing and his haunted, southern-gothic voice and songs, and it's time the rest of the world did too. He straddles the line where indie rock, alt.country and blues meet, and that's a place where he belongs with the Nick Caves, Jeff Buckleys, Ryan Adams, and Jeff Tweedys of the world.

Few people approach their music with as much intensity and imagination as Greg Garing. He is rooted in bluegrass and honky-tonk, but his musical appetites are too omnivorous to be contained by any one genre.

Greg Garing began his career at the early age of 11, playing solo Boogie
Woogie in a VFW Post. This beginning led Greg as a young man on a
relentless journey throughout America, exploring and experiencing every
possible trail of the roots of American music. Greg's talent and ability
to blend the music from traditional roots of this country has afforded him
accolades including the cover of Billboard, The New York Times and
countless other major publications. In addition Greg Garing's story has
been documented in various forms including a documentary by Crossroads
Films and a photography book, Nashville's Lower Broad by Bill Rouda,
published by The Smithsonian Institute. Greg's ability to master musical
instruments and styles has placed him with high acclaim in countless
fields of music- Blues, Country, Jass, Bluegrass and Rock & Roll.
Greg's original material has often been referred to as the essence of
timeless classics and is frequently performed by young folk artists around
the world. Most notably, what brings Greg acclaim are his vocals,
celebrated for their resounding unearthly sound. These accomplishments
have made Greg Garing a hero in the underground roots music world.

SUSAN GIBSON

"With the release of “New Dog, Old Tricks” Susan Gibson drops a savvy follow-up to 2005’s “Outer Space,”  and in doing so re-establishes herself not only as an acclaimed songwriter, but offers up proof that she could be considered a marketing whiz as well. The packaging of the new project is dead-on: Gibson is re-introducing ten original songs previously recorded with her old band, The Groobees, while tossing in four new co-writes with a curious mix of musical talent for good measure. Add her newly-scribed solo effort and “New Dog, Old Tricks” serves up the perfect blend of old and new Susan Gibson steeped in the here and now."

LUCKY TUBB
A young legend in the making

LISTEN WATCH WEBSITE

Lucky Tubb evokes the look, sound, and legend of his great uncle Ernest Tubb.

LUCKY TUBB AND THE MODERN DAY TROUBADOURS  “If Ernest Tubb is the King of Honky Tonk music, then Lucky Tubb is surely the Prince” Choosing to carry out the legacy of his great-uncle, Lucky’s style is reminiscent to the raw and original country style of the earliest Nashville artists. Before music row forgot their heritage. Lucky Tubbs album “Generations” was recorded in January of 2003, after a devastating Christmas Eve house fire burned away all of his belongings. Through generous donations, he was able to re-establish equipment and love from the music community. He carried on. Never breaking stride and never retreating, Lucky has moved up the ranks of the Texas music scene. Lucky wears his life experiences like a well-tailored suit with the sleeves ripped off.  Bottom line, Lucky Tubb is the real deal. People will always like good honky-tonk music, and will for generations to come.
