Singer/songwriter
Elizabeth Wills has
been selected by the Bugle Boy Foundation as the first participant in the Bugle
Boy's Talent Trust, pioneering a new concept in the recording business.
Conceived by Lane Gosnay, Bugle Boy Founder and Executive Director, this unique
program invests directly in selected artists’ recording initiatives. In the spirit of creating a
fair and sustainable business model for artists and their relationship with the
recording industry, The Bugle Boy Foundation is taking a new approach based on
the value of GIVING FORWARD and the concept of TRUST. This
pioneering model removes the recording industry from the equation altogether and
allows the performance venue to invest in the musical stock of its choice. This is a full circle
business model that creates sustainability for the artist, the venue and the
future Founder’s Choice recipients.
Elizabeth will receive financial backing from the Foundation for a studio
recording, produced by famed Austin producer Mark Hallman, who is known for his
work with such artists as Carole King, Eliza Gilkyson Sara Hickman and Ani
DiFranco. Elizabeth will retain 100% ownership and control of her recordings.
In exchange, she pledges to gift back the funding through door receipts from her
future Bugle Boy performances. In keeping with the spirit of the project,
Elizabeth will mentor the next recipient through their recording process thus
helping to create a nurturing and sustainable business model. This arrangement
leaves the traditional recording industry out of the equation, with the artist’s
creative integrity kept intact, benefiting both the artists and The Bugle Boy.
Listeners may know Elizabeth from her live appearances on KUT, and from her past performances at Austin City
Limits Festival, Kerrville Folk Festival Main Stage, The Backyard, and The Bugle
Boy. Wills has been a winner of the prestigious B.W. Stevenson Songwriting
competition, and among other awards has been voted Female Vocalist of the year
by Ft Worth Star Telegram.
According to Gosnay, “Elizabeth Wills possesses the perfect intrinsic
combination of talent & tenacity. She is publicly poised to make this release a
cornerstone in her career as an independent performing singer songwriter. The
Bugle Boy Foundation is proud to be in a position to assist Elizabeth as she
continues to move her career forward."
The new Elizabeth Wills CD package will also include live recordings from her October 10th, 2009
Bugle Boy concert.
You can take an integral role in the success of Elizabeth's
release by
pre purchasing her recording which will assure you your copy in time for Christmas and before the official
CD release in February 2010.
Elizabeth will be returning to The Bugle Boy for a CD release show Saturday,
February 13th, 2010 and, as part of the Talent Trust program, will
continue to perform regularly at The Bugle Boy in coming years. Wills says,
“I’m honored and excited to be chosen as the first participant in the Talent
Trust project and what the foundation is doing is a truly wonderful thing. I am
thrilled to be a part of it. Lifting each other up is what this journey is all
about and the foundation is doing this for me and future artists like me. I look
forward to working with Lane and the Bugle Boy Foundation. It’s always a thrill
to take the stage at The Bugle Boy, and I hope to play in this great listening
room for many years to come.”

Talent Trust Summary
The value of GIVING
FORWARD begins with private donations to the foundation from music lovers,
earmarked for a “Founder’s Choice” artist recipient. The selected artist is
then financially assisted in the production of a new studio recording. The
agreement will provide the artist with 100% ownership of the recording, held by
the artist to use as he or she chooses, for the advancement of their career.
The artist is also given guidance as needed to help assure the success of the
recording through mentorship and advice.
The concept of TRUST means that the artist becomes a member of the Bugle
Boy Foundation Talent Trust, and as such also accepts and agrees to continue
performing at The Bugle Boy throughout their growing career, and to gift a finite
sum of performance fees back to the foundation as detailed in the Bugle Boy
Foundation contract. The artist is also entrusted to play a key role in the
mentorship of the next “Founder’s Choice” recipient.
